There’s a new trend in growing muscles (thank god!)
This new trend has gotten more women into the gym and pumping some serious iron than ever before. It’s about time we started paying attention to these striated beauties.
But the real question, is how can we properly take care of them?
Well, let’s start with the basic knowledge of the body. We are made up of more than 650 muscles AKA while we may think we’re “basic,” we have more that 650 individual pieces moving cohesively at once in our body each with individual and extremely important functions. These include but are not limited to: moving, breathing, sleeping, and most importantly eating. They are also indicators of stress. Whether we like it or not we all tense up when we’re stressed which can cause some major damage if not take care of properly.
To me, the most important rule of keeping proper care of your muscles is to REST. Rest and relaxation can make or break a workout, but can also help repair and prevent injury. If you’re tired going into a workout, you’re more likely to get injured because you aren’t fully prepared and may not have the best form. Plus being sluggish at the gym just downright sucks.
Second most important rule is to stay HYDRATED. Without proper hydration say goodbye to energy and hello fatigue and cramping. Plus water is fantastic for the skin.
Rule #3- have good nutrition. It’s okay every once in a while to chow down on that pizza you’re craving but not every day. It’s important to keep a balanced diet full of vitamins, minerals, proteins, and carbs. People think that in order to lose weight you have to eat less, when in fact the best way to slim down is to eat more and work out. Ever heard of healthy diet and exercise? It’s not a myth or just a cliche. It’s the best way to make sure to build up your body healthily while slimming down and getting that great physique.
